2026 marks a major milestone for Rugby-based manufacturer, The Blind Company UK LTD, as the family-run business proudly celebrates 20 years of trading.
What began as a dream for founder Keith Lawson has grown into one of Rugby’s most established blind manufacturers, with a reputation for quality craftsmanship, local employment and exceptional customer service.
Looking back, it’s hard to believe the journey started from Keith’s home in Hillmorton, where he set out with a vision to build a family business that would serve customers across the region. Two decades later, that vision has become a remarkable success story.
Since opening, The Blind Company has continued to expand. The business first operated from a small shop on Railway Terrace in Rugby town centre before relocating to its first industrial unit on Somers Road, where it began manufacturing its own blinds.
Six years ago, the company moved into its current, larger premises on Somers Road, significantly increasing its manufacturing capacity. Today, around 80% of all blinds installed by the company are proudly manufactured in Rugby, highlighting its commitment to investing in local production and maintaining the highest standards of quality.
More Than a Local Blind Company
While many customers know The Blind Company for supplying and fitting blinds throughout the local area, fewer realise the business has also become a trusted manufacturer for other blind companies across the UK.
Over the years, this side of the business has grown organically, with The Blind Company supplying products to trade customers nationwide. The team takes great pride in the long-lasting relationships it has built with both retail and trade customers, many of whom have supported the business throughout its 20-year journey.
Looking to the Future
The next chapter of the company’s story is already underway.
In 2024, Keith’s son, Karl, returned to the family business to help lead its continued growth and explore new opportunities for the future. Having built strong relationships within the Rugby business community, Karl is passionate about supporting fellow local businesses and believes in using local suppliers and services wherever possible.
His return also represents the next generation of family leadership, bringing fresh ideas and renewed energy as Keith gradually moves towards retirement. The family is proud to know the business is well positioned to continue serving customers for many years to come.
